A link (from Latin vincŭlum) is a union, relationship or bond of a person or something with another. Therefore, two people or linked objects are united, chained, related or tied, either physically or symbolically.
For example: “I am proud of the bond I have with my son”, "Since I quit the company, I have no connection with any of those people", "There is a close link between fascism and violence", “You don't have any links on TV channels? I would like to try my luck as an actor ”.
The notion of link is often used to name the kind of invisible chain that exists in the close relationship between two people. That is why the link between mother and child is spoken of as something indestructible. This means that beyond the fights and discussions, there is something that will always unite both.
Hence, terms such as blood bond arise. With this, the intention is to express the link between two people who belong to the same family, who have kinship relations.
And all this without forgetting what is called emotional bond. This is used interchangeably to refer to the emotional ties that a person has with another good because they are part of the same family nucleus or because they maintain a relationship of friendship or love.
These types of relationships have often been the leitmotif of novels and movies. An example of this is the case of the production “Strange blood bond”. In 1991 it was when the premiere of that one was held, directed by Sean Penn and starring Vigo Mortensen, who tells us how the meeting between two brothers who had not seen each other for many years took place.
Links, however, are not usually indestructible. Two people can maintain an intimate and close bond until, for various reasons, this linkage comes to an end. That could be the case of a couple who divorces and decides to end the marriage bond.
